What Is a Soul Contract Reading?
A Soul Contract Reading is a system of spiritual numerology based on the ancient Hebrew alphabet. Unlike Pythagorean numerology, which assigns numbers 1–9 to English letters, the Soul Contract system converts the phonetic sounds of your full birth certificate name into the 22 Hebrew letter frequencies — each carrying a distinct vibrational pattern connected to creation itself.
The system was originally channeled by Frank Alper in the 1980s from the soul of Moses, documented in his work The Spiritual Numerology of Moses. Nicolas David Ngan later refined the methodology into what is now known as Soul Contract Reading, training practitioners worldwide through the Center for Conscious Ascension. The author's book, Your Soul Contract Decoded, remains the definitive reference text.
How the Star of David Chart Works
Your birth name's Hebrew numbers are distributed across a Star of David — two overlapping triangles forming six points, plus a central position. The physical triangle (pointing downward) governs your earthly, material life and is most active from birth to approximately age 35. The spiritual triangle (pointing upward) governs your inner soul development and becomes predominant from age 35–42 onward.
Each triangle contains three positions: Karma (your soul's core challenges and lessons), Talents (innate gifts requiring activation), and Goals (what your soul is working toward). The seventh position at the center — your Soul Destiny — represents the overarching purpose that integrates all six aspects into a single life mission.

The conversion follows a specific mapping verified against Nicolas David Ngan's published tables. Single letters map directly (A=Aleph/1, B=Beth/2, C=Kaf/11, etc.), while certain letter combinations take priority: SH becomes Shin (21), TH becomes Tav (22), CH becomes Chet (8), and others. The parser scans left to right, checking for combination letters before falling back to single-letter mappings.
The 22 Hebrew Frequencies
The 22 numbers correspond to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, organized into three categories from the Sefer Yetzirah (Book of Creation): three Mother Letters (Aleph/Air, Mem/Water, Shin/Fire) representing the primordial elements, seven Double Letters (Beth, Gimel, Dalet, Kaf, Peh, Resh, Tav) corresponding to the seven classical planets, and twelve Simple Letters corresponding to the twelve zodiac signs.
Each number carries both a shadow (karmic/challenging) expression and a light (transcended/activated) expression. For example, number 9 (Tet/Serpent) in its shadow manifests as fear of one's own power and early wounds of mistrust, while its light expression is considered the most powerful frequency in the system — dragon energy, complete connection to the Divine, and the ability to transform lives.
Master Numbers: 3, 7, 12, 13, 18
Five numbers in the system carry greatly intensified energy. Number 3 (Gimel/Camel) amplifies communication and self-expression. Number 7 (Zayin/Sword) intensifies the capacity to catalyze and connect people. Number 12 (Lamed/Ox-Goad) amplifies expansion and balance. Number 13 (Mem/Water) is a Mother Letter carrying the Divine Feminine and Christ Consciousness frequency. Number 18 (Tzaddi/Fishhook) intensifies commitment, completion, and humanitarian service. When master numbers appear in karmic positions, the challenge is proportionally greater — but so is the potential when transcended.
Chart Patterns: Mirrors, Dominant Vibrations, and Double Numbers
Experienced Soul Contract readers look for recurring patterns across the chart. Mirror patterns occur when two positions share identical X-Y values (for example, Physical Karma matching Physical Goal), creating a powerful energetic echo. Dominant vibrations emerge when the same reduced number appears four or more times across positions. Double numbers (like 4-4 or 5-5) appear when the X value is already a single digit, indicating concentrated focused energy in that position.
